Wild Ponies Chincoteague have made their annual swimming all over the Assategue channel in Virginia for the 100th time.
The tradition began in 1925 and sees the “salt cowboys” of a horse to round the pony, which then swim the channel and come to the shore on the east of the island of Chinkoteig.
The event, organized by the Fire Department in Chinko -Totg, which runs ponies, includes a auction of some of the stallions.
The money raised helps to control the size of the herd to help maintain a healthy pony population of Assateague, where ponies live the bigger part of the year.
