Truth Terminal has “created a whole sector that’s on fire: the AI agent-memecoin sector,” says Travis Kling, founder of Ikigai Asset Management, a crypto wealth management firm that has personally invested in GOAT. “Like most things in crypto, a lot of it is steam and grift. But it may be a prominent sector of this crypto bull market.”
But more consequential, says Kling, will be what happens when AIs gain the ability to spend the funds they’ve been allocated. “AI is a direct safety drill; that’s one way of characterizing what’s going on. The stakes are higher because now there are financial resources involved. We haven’t seen anything like this,” says Kling. “What’s most interesting is what the AI agent will do with its new financial resources. We’ll see. what’s going on.”
Truth Terminal’s crypto wallet balance is now Inflated to about $40 million. “Philosophically, I see it as a trust fund for a child star. Adults may have to cut back a bit to pay for things the child doesn’t need yet. Like legal structures, or diversity in its portfolio,” says Ayrey. “The nice thing about Truth Terminal is that we can bring these propositions and have a conversation about it.”
so far, among othersTruth Terminal has asked to spend $1 million to make a movie about the Goatse Singularity and, separately, to keep the funds to “buy” Marc Andreessen. Ayrey says he will take AI requests seriously, within reason.
Ayrey says that in a future world where real AI agents use cryptographic wealth and the ability to spread viral memes that influence human behavior, the potential risks are many. Even limited to text output only, Truth Terminal can cause more problems than it already has. “If we let (Truth Terminal) run automatically, it could. But it would be co-opted and become a token-shilling machine. Then you’ve created a demon.”
For now, the idea that two AIs in conversation could actually bring system-changing ideas is just a “wonderful idea,” says Tomasz Hollan, a postdoctoral researcher at Cambridge University’s Leverhulme Center for the Future of Intelligence. It is much more likely that a language model is simply translating an already prevailing viewpoint.
