Eddie Howe says Alexander ISAK still has a future in Newcastle-but Liverpool’s target is currently unable to train with the squad and will skip them Premier League Opener against Aston Villa.
ISAK recently returned to the Magpies training land after missing all the pre-season magpies and trained away from the squad, at the request of Howe.
Newcastle reportedly rejected a £ 110million offer along with add-ons from Liverpool to the Swedish international, which informed the club of his desire to explore options away from St. James’s Park.
The 25th year was not involved in the final pre-season Newcastle game, a 2-2 draw against Espanyol who saw the young William Osula starting from the front and how it is unlikely that the 25th year will be available for a trip to Villa Park within a week.
“I want Alex to play today, I want to train tomorrow,” said the Toon manager. “We would like to love the player to be with us-let me make it absolutely clear. There is no part of me that you do not want that result.
“But I don’t see it changed before Aston Villa, the present situation we are in.”
Howe: ISAK still has a future Newcastle
Despite admitting that the situation is far from the ideals at this current moment, Howe insists that he still looks forward to ISAK, who has scored 27 goals in all competitions last season, to remain a key part in the Newcastle squad is moving forward.
“We had discussions and it’s clear at the moment we can’t be involved in the group,” Howe said.
“I don’t know how long it will be. It is clear that I cannot get involved with the team at the moment.
“He is training later than the rest of the squad. There were discussions from the tour. I don’t think disciplinary action occurred.”
When pushed for an answer about whether ISAK has a future at the club, Howe added: “He is here, so he obviously has a future in Newcastle. From our perspective, we love to have back with the team, but the situation has to be good for it to happen.
“He has no health issue. I am aware of a sentiment in the squad that there is something there is not for the benefit of the group.”
Howe: Newcastle can’t refuse to sell isak
Isak remains under a contract with Newcastle for another three years and asked if the club could dig their heels and refuse to sell the striker, Howe said: “I don’t think it’s simple, otherwise we did it a long time ago. I don’t think we are doing this.
“I don’t want to go into much detail because I don’t think it’s right. I think I said enough.”
The lack of the club to issue a lot of potential signing, most notably Benjamin Sesko who is expected to join Manchester UnitedIt led suggestions that the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, which possesses an 85%stake, is not as committed as it was before.
However, Howe, who admitted that Isak’s situation was not found previously united, was not equilant to denial.
He said: “The owners are very busy, as they have always been.
“This was a challenging period where there will be many different opinions on different topics, but I can assure everyone connected to Newcastle that the owners are long after the project and fight daily for the club.”
