“This year has been one of the most challenging and thought-provoking, and I’ve struggled with how to share a personal story or not at all,” Gadot, 39, wrote via . Instagram December 29, Sunday. “In the end, I decided to let my heart guide me.”
“Perhaps this is my way of processing it all, of removing the veil from the fragile reality behind the cherished moments we share on social media,” she continued. “Most of all, I hope that by sharing it I can raise awareness and help others who may be dealing with something similar.”
Gadot shared that she was diagnosed with a “massive blood clot” on her brain in February when she was eight months pregnant.
“For weeks, I suffered excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until an MRI finally revealed the terrifying truth,” she wrote. “At one point, my family and I were facing what could be a fragile life. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the middle of a difficult year, all I wanted to do was hang on and live.’
Gadot underwent “emergency surgery” “within hours” of being “taken to the hospital.”

The Wonder Woman the star she shared that she was “on and off the road to recovery” thanks to her medical team at Cedars Sinai Hospital. “Today, I am fully healed and filled with gratitude for the life they have given me back,” she wrote.
“Travel has taught me a lot,” Gadot continued. “First of all, it is essential to listen to our body and trust what it tells us. Pain, discomfort or subtle changes often have a deeper meaning, and being in tune with your body can save your life.’
Gadot stated that “awareness is important,” adding that she “had no idea” that 3 in 100,000 pregnant women over the age of 30 develop a blood clot in the brain. (The National Library of Medicine reported the same figure in 2022).
“Early identification is so important because it is treatable,” he concluded. “Even though it’s rare, it’s a possibility, and knowing it exists is the first step to dealing with it. Sharing this is not meant to scare anyone, just to empower them. If even one person feels compelled to take measures for their health because of this story, it was worth sharing.”
Along with her post, Gadot shared a picture of herself cradling her newborn while sitting in a hospital bed. (Gadot and Varsano, who married in 2008, also share daughters Alma, 13, Maya, 7, and Daniella, 3.)
Gadot followed up her post via her Instagram Story, declaring that giving birth is a “miracle” and “a testament to the strength and resilience of our bodies and spirits.” He added: “But it also demands a lot from us, reminding us to take care of ourselves as hard as we take care of others.”
Gadot shared that she’s been reflecting on the “personal miracle she’s been given.” He celebrates Hanukkah.
“My daughter, Ori, is a constant reminder of resilience, hope and the strength we carry within,” he concluded. “My wish is that we all find our light, experience our miracles and continue to advocate for our health and each other.”
