Flick asks Barcelona Fringe players to guide Blaugrana through a shaking schedule

Barcelona’s chief coach Hansi Flick used his post-match comments to underline the importance of the squad fund after his 3-0 triumph on Getafe in La Liga.

The Catalans secured their fourth championship win of the campaign, held their record without their losses in all competitions and only remained two points behind the early leaders Real Madrid.

Ferran Torres was the star of the first half, who hit twice before Dani Olmo increased the third after the break to seal the victory at the Stadium Olympics.

Both players were given start-up opportunities after being surrounded by the success of Midweek Champions League against Newcastle, both rewarding Flick’s faith with decisive contributions.

Marcus Rashford, who noted twice in that 2-1 victory over Tyneside, looked from the bank for most of the contest.

English remains an important choice to attack, but Flick made it clear that consistency in the squad will be essential if Barcelona are to compete on multiple fronts.

Torres has now moved the club’s top of the season with four goals, although Robert Lewandowski’s return to fitness means that the Spanish is not guaranteed a place on the II. However, with Lamine Yamal, opportunities continue to impress others.

Following the final bore, Flick said: “It is very important to have players in the best shape. We have matches every three or four days, so it is good that our players are performing at a high level.

“We have 25-27 players and we need everyone. The most important thing for me is that every player will give their best for the benefit of the team, and Dani Olmo has done so today. That’s what we expect from him throughout the season.

“Every player on the team is important, and I’m happy to have attackers of this level, they help us a lot.”

Barcelona’s demanding schedule continues with a journey away to Real Oviedo on September 25, followed by a home conflict against Real Sociedad three days later.

Four other fixtures are aligned before the international break of October, giving Flick more chances to test the depth and resilience of his squad.
