Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca says the new winger Estevao “can play anywhere” in the attack and “anything can happen” on a potential issue for striker Nicolas Jackson.
The 17-year-old joined his new teammates on Tuesday after the Blues paid Palmeiras £ 29 million, which potentially rose to more than £ 50m.
“In the five attacking positions he can play outdoors, inside and anywhere,” Maresca explained.
“It’s so good. It’s like Cole (Palmer), in terms of position. He needs to adapt and hope we can give him minutes so he is even happier.”

Estevao: Chelsea offer ‘no pressure’
Maresca met Estevao, who is already a senior international Brazil, for the first time when Chelsea beat Palmeiras 2-1 at 2025 World Cup club Final quarters on their way to win competition in the United States, Prodigy Igwali after Palmer had opened the score.
Palmer became the Chelsea Talisman while he scored the best for them during each of his two seasons at the club, although Maresca is careful to expect such an immediate impact from Estevao.
“He is a fantastic player,” Maresca said. “He is a happy boy – always laughing, who is typical for a Brazilian man.
“We need to pay a little more attention because it is from another part of the world and many, very small.
“He is not under pressure. We give him happiness and time. The biggest mistake we can make with him is to put him under pressure.”

Nicolas Jackson: Incertainy Window Transfer
Aside from Palmer, Senegal International Jackson is the only Chelsea player to reach double figures in the Premier League At 2023/24 and 2024/25, but the 24-year-old is being linked to Newcastle, who will urgently need to replace the leading leader Alexander Isak if Liverpool manages to assure the Sweden striker.
Jackson is under contract by 2033 but Maresca acknowledged that his future is uncertain and suggested hoping that squad exiles including the front Raheem Sterling and full-back Ben Chilwell will find imminent suitors.
“When the transfer window is open, unfortunately or fortunately, something can happen,” acknowledged the Italian.
“This also involves the situation of Nico. Raheem, Chilwell, are training and I think they are expecting a solution.
“When they leave, the club simply sends me or calls me. I take the news from the club because I don’t pay attention to the trainers who are training and need to leave. I just focus on how to prepare sessions and win games.”

Levi Colwill injury
Maresca expressed his concerns about an injury suffered by the first choice defender Levi Colwill during Chelsea’s first day of pre-season training as a full squad on Monday.
Colwill is being assessed after suffering the problem late in the session, which occurred less than a month after their victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the club’s World Cup final.
