Deck Down Under’s Captain Jason reveals melanoma diagnosis

Under the deck‘s Captain Jason Chambers is opening up about a recent health scare.

In a video shared via Instagram On Monday, Dec. 16, the reality TV star revealed that a recent biopsy she underwent was confirmed to be melanoma, a type of skin cancer.

“I’m in Australia and this was done in Bali,” Captain Jason, 52, explained in the video. “The Australian doctors here, they weren’t happy with what the indications were telling them to go to stage 2, which would be to cut a larger section and test the glands. So I’m waiting for the specimen to come from Bali, so it’ll be here this week, but I might not pick it up until after Christmas.”

The Australian star encouraged his countrymen to be more cautious as the weather heats up over the coming months.

“Two out of three people get melanoma. It’s a big deal. We’re having a heat wave this summer, so make sure you wear a hat,” she said, noting she never used sunscreen but now has found products without chemicals “Make sure you put on some sunscreen, get some shade and cover up.”

In the caption of his post, Captain Jason added: “For someone who spent his life in the sun, playing sports as a kid or working in the ocean, I thought he was resistant to the harmful effects of the sun. I’ love the sun and its health benefits are obvious, but be wise and like everything in life, it’s all about balance, pick your battles.”

“With a melanoma biopsy diagnosed, I now have an anxious wait and what I thought was a blemish on my skin turned into just 6 months, early detection is the key,” she continued.

The post concluded, “So find a chemical-free sunscreen, throw on some shade with a hat, and enjoy the sun with protection.”

Captain Jason has been in charge of Under the deckwhich aired on Peacock, for two seasons. A third season has already been shot.

“Season 3 has been filmed. I just know it’s in edits at the moment, but it has been filmed and I can confirm that,” Jason explained exclusively Us Weekly in September. “The biggest piece of information so far is that it has been confirmed.”

“For sure there have been changes. I know the policies and procedures were in place during previous seasons, even when this happened.
