Chelsea are awaiting bids for Nkunku in the January transfer window

Chelsea are preparing for bids for Christopher Nkunku from several clubs in January, according to reports.

Insider football sources at Stamford Bridge have told them that the club is expecting interest from teams in the Premier League and abroad when the transfer window opens in the New Year.

The 27-year-old Nkunku is believed to have been “frustrated” with his lack of consistent game time at Chelsea, where his run in the side has been limited to appearances in the Uefa Conference League this season.

Nkunku has featured in 16 of Chelsea’s 17 games this term but has only started twice.

The media in Spain are reporting that Nkunku’s agent, Pini Zahavi, has offered the Frenchman’s services to La Liga giants Barcelona.

It is believed that Barcelona sporting director Deco hopes to sign a new striker to compete with Robert Lewandowski, but action is not expected until January.

Barcelona are monitoring a number of potential strikers, with Nkunku’s name also on a list believed to include Marcus Rashford, AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Chelsea are currently enjoying something of a revival under Enzo Maresca. The Blues are second in the Premier League table, unbeaten in their last 12 games in all competitions.

Maresca’s side host Fulham on Boxing Day.
