Altimit midfielder speaks on brawl

Betis’s real midfielder Sergi Altimit admitted “things that should not happen” occurred in friendship against Como who went down in chaos but insisted that competitiveness is a “weapon” of the footballer.

The incident was prompted by major challenges on midfielders Betis Giovani Lo Celso and Isco, which led to Pablo Oors and Como Maxi Pronone trading punches before team colleagues also waded.

After more punches and many pushed, the tempers finally calmed down.

Oors and Perrone were expelled with the second calmer half resulting in Como seizing a late 3-2 victory thanks to Ivan Azon’s goal.

“Real Betis and Como wanted to win”

Altijira said: “There have been things that should not happen. Both teams have to win, we are very competitive. This is our weapon.

“I think that in this type of game we shouldn’t cross the line and we have to stay with football, what we want to improve and the things we have done well.”

Betis’s experienced boss Manuel Pellegrini told his players to calm down at half-time.

“He told us that we should not love this type of game,” added an altar. “We knew they had made a lot of fouls, they founded the game a lot and what they wanted.

“We had to show a better mindset and so we showed, too bad (we condmed) the goal in the dying moments.”

Como go to Barcelona for the next Sunday Joan Gamper trophy while Betis takes Malaga on the Costa del Sol trophy.
