A woman in New Zealand was arrested after a two -year -old girl was found in the luggage while traveling by bus.
Police said the employees were summoned to a bus stop in Kaivak, a small town in the northern part of the country, on Sunday after a passenger requested access to the luggage compartment.
“The driver became concerned when he noticed that the bag was moving. When the driver opened the suitcase, they found the two -year -old girl,” police said in New Zealand.
The 27-year-old woman has been arrested and accused of poor processing/neglecting a child.
“The little girl was reported to be very hot, but otherwise she looks physically unharmed,” police said.
She was taken to a hospital where he was undergoing a medical assessment, they added.
The relationship between the woman and the child has not been revealed.
The woman should appear in the District Court on the North Coast on Monday.
“We would like to acknowledge and praise the bus driver who noticed that something was not right and took immediate action, preventing what could be a far worse result,” police said.
