James Conner will not play again this season, according to an ESPN report, after suffering a serious ankle injury in the Yesterday Arizona Cardinals’s 16-15 defeat to San Francisco 49ers.
The 30-year-old dropped back after an early yard run in the third quarter with the severity of the apparent injury quickly with players from both teams taking the knee in solidarity with the Captain’s Captain before being remembered by the pitch.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Conner has been excluded for the season and his right ankle needs operation.
It means everything – murray Ice hit Conner
“It’s unfortunate,” said Arizona’s quarterback Kyler Murray. “Not only is my teammate, I feel that is my brother. Just to see him go down, you never want to see it. I understand it’s part of the game, but it’s not ideal.
“It’s everything, it means.”
Trey Benson is now expected to increase to become the first choice of the team to go back, not showing signs of excitement after the game.
“It’s one of my best friends on the team,” Benson said about Conner. “He was like a great brother for me – my mentor. He taught me a lot of things here, so it was tough (to see).”
Conner, who came outside the 1,000 yards, is under contract with Arizona by 2026.
